Valium (diazepam) is a drug prescribed for patients diagnosed with any of the anxiety disorders, or for other conditions as prescribed by your health care provider. Tell your health care provider if you have ever been diagnosed with asthma, kidney disease, liver disease, depression, alcohol addiction or any mental illnesses. Valium must never been taken by people to whom it was not prescribed as it may form a habit and result in may serious side effects if the person taking it has not been examined by the doctor. This medicine is FDA pregnancy category D, which means it is likely to cause serious birth defects in unborn babies. This can be avoided if you use reliable methods of birth control throughout the entire period of taking this medicine. If you are already pregnant or breastfeeding let your doctor know, as you may be advised to postpone the treatment with Valium.
